Common questions about EMDR therapy

  • EMDR is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy method based on neurology. EMDR is a scientific method which works to heal the neurological injuries the brain can experience with psychological trauma.

  • While many people are able to benefit from EMDR, there are some situations in which EMDR is more harmful than helpful. I will thoroughly assess your symptoms and develop a treatment plan to help you safely achieve your goals.

  • I’m surprised that this is one of the most common questions I encounter with EMDR. It seems that most of my clients are afraid of “failing” or doing it "wrong." While there is never 100% certainty with any treatment, I will be careful in guiding you through the process to achieve the best results. If, for some reason, EMDR doesn't feel helpful, then there are other options which I'll be glad to explore with you.
